April Ross Hired As Executve Director
Soccer Maine Executive Director
I would like to take the opportunity to introduce myself to all of you in the Soccer Maine community. My name is April Ross and I am very excited that I was recently hired as the new Executive Director of Soccer Maine.
My first week coincided with the Region 1 tournament. We have had the good fortune to have been awarded the honor of hosting such a grand soccer event, right here in our own backyard. In addition, we have another change, our office location has moved – we have relocated from Bangor to Scarborough. You will find our new phone number and address here at our Soccer Maine website and listed in the Pitch.
I have been a part of the soccer community for many years. My fondness for the game began with Glenn Hutchins, a Greely High School History teacher who shared his love of the game with my hometown of Cumberland.
His passion, advocacy and his local soccer camps fueled the explosion in growth of the soccer program in our community. All three of my kids participated in clinics and camps run by Coach Hutchins. My husband, Scott and I have had the opportunity to witness them play recreational soccer, fall travel, spring premier, high school soccer and participate in Region 1 tournaments over the last several years.
I am a long time member of the Cumberland Soccer Club. It has been my honor to co-chair the annual “Just For Fun” Labor Day Tournament. It’s a great way to kick off the fall season and to introduce soccer to our brand new U-10 travel players.
I enjoy soccer at any level and feel at home when on the sidelines with my fellow soccer fans. I look forward to the challenges ahead of me and to meeting many more members of the soccer community here in Maine.
I wish to say thank you to Colleen Hoke, for her many years of service as the Registrar and Executive Director for the last few years. As a team administrator for multiple soccer teams, her aid and kindness to me will always be remembered and appreciated. Colleen is a warm person with a fabulous sense of humor. Colleen, thank you and take this time to smell the roses and enjoy your family.
